Our
Story

Welcome

Tragically in July 2003, Wanda and Scott were taken from their family in a devastating house fire. Wanda, a devoted wife, a marriage rooted in faith, and loving mother of seven children, was sincere, humble and loving. Scotty, a little boy nearing his 11th birthday, full of life, pestering his sisters and looking up to his older brothers. Both taken far too soon.

Now 21 years later, on behalf of the Salverda family, and in memory of Wanda and Scott, the Memorial lives on through an annual golf tournament and biannual Black and White Gala to give back to the communities of Haldimand and Norfolk. The passed 18 years, the Golf Tournament and the Black and White Gala have been a great success and well over 1 million dollars has been raised. The proceeds were divided amongst the Norfolk General Hospital and West Haldimand Hospital foundations, as well as over 55 community charities. Along with these worthy causes, a scholarship of $15,000 is awarded annually. Notably, the  2024 winner was Adam Chambers of Holy Trinity Catholic High School.

On behalf of the Salverda Family-
